Suzuki Kids Triathlon Hamburg 2025 – Schoolchildren set the pace

Successful 18th school triathlon thanks to excellent organization, glorious weather, and enthusiastic students

On June 12 and 13, Hamburg's Stadtpark around the popular Stadtparksee outdoor pool was dominated by a special triathlon event. The Suzuki Kids Triathlon Hamburg was once again one of the largest school sporting events in the Hanseatic city in 2025.

A total of over 3,000 students in grades three to twelve from 88 elementary and secondary schools took part.

The first day of the event got off to a great start: sunshine and pleasant early summer temperatures provided ideal conditions. From early in the morning, around 1,250 elementary school students in grades three and four took to the course in waves.

The youngest participants mastered the 50-meter swim in the Stadtparksee lake, 2,000 meters of cycling, and 500 meters of running under the shade of the park's trees – and above all, they had a lot of fun.

As a reward for their athletic performance, everyone received a finisher's medal, accompanied by the humorous commentary of 2007 triathlon world champion Daniel Unger.

The second day of the event was every bit as good as the first. With the sun shining again and a pleasant temperature of 22 degrees Celsius, more than 1,400 students in grades five to nine took to the starting line at 8:30 a.m. They had to swim 100 meters, cycle four kilometers, and run 1,000 meters.

In the late morning, it was the turn of grades ten to twelve, who had to cover twice the distance.

Some of the participants in the middle grades impressed with their remarkable performance.

However, the focus was always on having fun together through sport – and enjoying a very special school day outside the classroom.

The event ran smoothly thanks to many helping hands: dedicated teachers, supportive parents, and the experienced and well-organized DTU team ensured that everything went off without a hitch.
The Suzuki Kids Triathlon Hamburg 2025 was not only a strong sporting statement for Hamburg, but also a successful precursor to the Suzuki World Triathlon Hamburg, which takes place one month later.
