Alistair Brownlee triumphed in San Diego!
22 April, 2013
At the 2nd ITU World Triathlon Series race in San Diego, the current Olympic champion Alistair Browlnee secured the first Place ahead of Richard Murray of South Africa and the Portuguese Joao Silva.
After he was able to break away from his competitors while running, he ran to meet a lonely victory and could even exchange high-fives with his fans and cross the finish line while walking.
Close to the medal ranks and with a strong performance Steffen Justus landed on the fourth position. No other German made it into the Top 20. Jan Frodeno had to end the race prematurely due to a cut on the foot, which he had incurred during the race in Auckland.
In the women's race on Friday an U.S. American won the race for the first time in the history of triathlon. Gwen Jorgensen won ahead of England’s Non Stanford and Emma Moffat with a great finish. Anne Haug reached, just as Steffen Justus the 4th Rank, but remains first in the series rankings.
