Strong start with 3,000 amateur athletes

Positive results after the first day of competition at the SUZUKI World Triathlon Hamburg powered by HAMBURG WASSER. 2,300 individual and 650 relay triathletes successfully made it to the finish line in the open race over the sprint distance.

The fastest triathlete over the 750 metre swim, 20 km bike ride and 5 km run was Maurice Curth, who crossed the finish line after 1:00.36 hours. Svea Lüdorff was the fastest woman to reach the blue carpet in front of the town hall after 1:08:20 hours.

Team Zoot 4 with Claudia and Gerrit Klok and Kresimir Ivkovic won the relay classification after 1:03:23 hours.

The company cup classification powered by SUZUKI also recorded a strong result. This allows participants to add their individual results to a company team ranking. For this, at least three individual starters or at least one relay team must be registered per company. Over 600 individual and 250 relay starters had also registered for the company cup classification.

Also pleasing: although the sun was largely hidden behind grey clouds throughout the day, the rain that was feared at times almost completely failed to materialise. This ensured optimal conditions and therefore a low drop-out rate and, last but not least, a low number of assistance calls on the course.
